HARLECH 1 - Stone Age and Bronze Age Remains
The area between the Dwyryd and Mawddach (pictured above) estuaries is abudant in hut circles, standing stones, stone circles and burial chambers (see activities map) - it maybe even the richest area for such examples in the British Isles.
Fine examples of a Stone Circle at Llanbedr and the burial chambers at Dyffryn Ardudwy lie within yards of the main road (A496).
Further on another 5 miles along the ancient trackway where it crosses the old Roman Road of Sarn Helen, there is a natural ampitheatre which the Romans used.
